Netflix 4K, big bag of hurt

This is far and away the least Apple-like experience I have ever had in my 20 years of using Apple products.

All I want to do is enable 4K Netflix on my new 4K Apple TV to watch on my new Bravia 4k HDR TV.  This should be a simple thing, especially since it involves me wanting to give MORE money to Netflix, and by extension, Apple.  Alas, simple it is not.

In doing some research I read that in some fine print somewhere Netflix states that iTunes-created accounts from before May of 2014 (mine was created in January of that year) would not be eligible to update their plans, and that cancelling and re-subscribing was the only way.  First of all, seriously?  That's beyond ludicrous on every level... not customer friendly at all.

But what choice do I realistically have if I want this content, right?  Fine...  I canceled my subscription, deleted the app from Apple TV, and then promptly re-downloaded it, and signed in with my iTunes credentials.  Now however, not only can I not select plans from the iTunes or Apple TV subscription managers, but my iTunes subscription no longer even appears on the list. A restart of the Apple TV did not remedy this...

What in the steaming f---- are the people running this doing?  Mere hours ago, I fell in love with Apple all over again over how simple it was to set-up the new Apple TV, and then they go and throw me this nonsense straight out of the 90's era Microsoft playbook.

I am beyond frustrated... my presumption is that I now must wait until my canceled subscription expires on Nov2, and THEN I can actually re-subscribe and join the rest of 2017, but I don't want to just take this theory for granted, so what if anything can those of you who frequent this forum tell me that might help lock this thing down?

Thanks

- Willie
