Prevent Logic from Creating Sustain Pedal Event...

I do a lot of orchestral mockups in Logic, and one problem I've been having since day one is with Logic automatically creating sustain pedal events when editing MIDI regions, specifically when cutting or glueing regions together.

I understand the importance of adding an "off" event when a MIDI region is cut, so that sustains are automatically severed even if the MIDI region is cut before the "off" signal was recorded. However, I'm not always recording using the sustain pedal, and recently sustain ON events are automatically being added when glueing regions together! I've now got a whole project full of sustain events that were never recorded!

The best workaround I've found is to glue all the regions together on each track, find a sustain event, and [SHIFT]+S to select similar events, then delete, but this is still super time-consuming (not to mention frustrating and something I shouldn't have to do).

Any ideas what is happening, and more importantly how to fix it?
