Transferring PDF's from Ipad 1 to new Ipad air ...

I have several pdf documents on my old ipad 1 and want to transfer them to my new ipad air.  When I connect my old ipad 1 to itunes ( on a pc ) and click on the books tab under my ipad 1 and then sync books and when I go to the Library there is no place that I can find that shows my pdf documents.  Where are these documents stored on my pc itunes and how do I get them on my new ipad air?  I have seen similar questions like this but they all are about using a Mac as the main computer and I can not find anything regarding using itunes on a pc to do this transfer.  Anyone have a suggestion??

Try to transfer the PDF documents from your iPad 1 into iTunes first, then try to sync the files to the iPad Air. This talks about how to transfer purchases, but I have seen it work with non purchased PDF files s well.

iTunes Store: Transfer purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

IF this is successful you should see the pdf files in your iTunes library under the Books heading. If this becomes too cumbersome or it isn't working, just email the PDF files to yourself from iPad 1 and save them to whatever PDF app you are using on the iPad Air.

Transferring your prepaid cellular data account depends on your carrier. AT&T lets you move it yourself when you go to Cellular Data in Settings and log into your account with your previous AT&T user name and password. For iPads with Sprint service, you can set up an account on the new iPad and contact Sprint Customer Care (888-211-4727 and go through the menus) to deactivate the old plan and get credit for unused service. For Verizon, call the company’s customer service number for mobile broadband support (800-786-8419) and ask to have your account transferred.

When my wife got a new iPad pro, I backed up her old iPad3 using iTunes on Windows.

I then restored everything (or so I thought) onto here new iPad Pro.

Almost everything came over.

Except dozens of PDF's (not purchased via iBooks) in her iBooks collection. Only the actual iBooks came over.

These are PDF's downloaded from various websites (purchased.)

I spent hours on the phone with AppleCare, searched websites, tried CopyTrans, etc, etc.

And the ONLY solution I have found so far is to go on the old iPad and one-at-a-time email each of the missing PDF's to her own email address, get on her new iPad, open each email, open the attached PDF and save it into iBooks.

Very tedious.

According to the last Apple rep what likely happened iTunes refuses to transfer things with copyrights if it doesn't know if you have the right to do so. That it even leaves behind music that didn't come from the iTunes store.

Nice work Apple. Thanks.
