Ipad Air 2 on newest ios update

Here's my issue. I can't seem to add my ripped dvd's to the playlist that I want them in. Movies prefer I don't mess with the options icon to change them to movies category instead of the Home Video one. When I do they don't play. Same for my shows, creating actual playable lists is impossible. The same for my music now too.  For example i'll have serveral songs, from different albums of the same artist. But it refuses to put them in my artist playlist. It does it by album then artist. This makes for messy looking for my songs, which is easier by artist only.   Any help is appreciated. Please post this where necessary.  I'm on Windows 10 hp laptop, with the newest update by Apple, and on my Ipad Air 2 as well, thanks.
