HP Z27i not displaying edges of desktop

Hello,

I just purchased an HP Z27i monitor to go with my Macbook Pro 15 inch and when I plugged it in using HDMI, it only gave me three options for scaling.  It can go to 2560x1440 but then it does not display the outside edges of the screen e.g. the tool bars at the top, half the dock at the bottom, and half the icons on the right.

Is there some way to fix this so that it can display at the max resolution but not have the icons outside of the screen?

Thanks!

I had this problem with the same monitor, and I talked to Apple Support many times. They had no clue, suggested to upgrade Mac OS, buy an Apple dock, and try other HDMI cable...

I try without the dock but instead with a single video converter cable from USB-C to HDMI and had the same problem.

The issue is that the monitor factory default is 'overscan auto', and the auto doesn't do the right thing. If you use the bottom right buttons on the monitor to turn 'overscan' to 'off' that will solve the issue.
