iPad thinks app is installed, but won't open an...

If I look for an app on my iPad, or use spotlight, it's not there.. But, when I go to search for it on the app store, I don't get the option to install. I only see the OPEN button where the INSTALL button would normally be. I click the OPEN button and nothing happens. I have rebooted, and it doesn't change.. If I check the Purchased section of the store, my app only shows up under the ALL tab, but doesn't show up on the Not on this iPad tab.

 

I am connected to WiFi and all my updates are up to date and I don't have any incomplete downloads- none that show as incomplete anyway.

 

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this short of a wipe? I am on the road and have some road movies to watch. Slow wifi at hotel...



Go to settings,general, usage,and wait for the apps to show  up and scroll till you find the app, select it and delete it. from there you should be able to install it from the app store again. If that does not work back up the device and restore it.

That was it. Only the icon showed and the name of the app was blank. Must have not completed downloading. Thanks.



Excellent!  This took care of my issue as well...



I'm trying to re-install an app I deleted by mistake. I followed your advice and deleted it but app still says "open". What else can I try? Thanks

This solved my problem but had to do the procedure twice to remove it from the Usage list.   I've got a first gen iPad with iOS at 7.1.2.  Much appreciate the tip.

had this also, BUT, ALSO had to disable Cloud back-up and then reinstall - tried it 3x, finally worked...



i have this problem. i tried to delete it from the usage list but once i go to the appstore it still says 'open'. and if i go back to the usage list it's back on there. if i press delete app and then go back to general and check it again it apoears there again. it won't delete. help?



I deleted the app in the usage section of settings. I went back to the App Store to redownload it, but now the download ‘cloud’ is ghosted and I can’t select it. Now what?
