Apple ID trouble

hi! I just got a new computer and in the process I created a new Apple ID. I have been able to switch mostly everything over, except when I am trying to update apps, I keep getting a message that says, "this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." can you help me?

Was the computer new (out of the box), when you bought it?

If I understand you correctly, you had a Mac and used an AppleID for it but chose to create a new AppleID for use with the new Mac. If this is the correct, that was a bad choice. All purchases you make at the iTunes store and App Store are associated with your AppleID. Logging onto the App Store with your new AppleID the store doesn't know you bought the software under a different AppleID.

Solutions:

1) assuming you've purchase nothing using the new AppleID - drop it. Open System Preferences, select iCloud and sign out of the account. Then sign in with the old AppleID.

2) if you've already begun using the new AppleID extensively, you cannot merge accounts but you can simulate merging accounts by clicking on Manage Family in the iCloud tab of System Preferences. Add your old AppleID to your Family Account. Since most (but not all) applications, music & video and be shared between family members, this will let you be logged in under your new AppleID and still download your items from your old one. Note: if you can use option 1 it is the better option.
