Messages not sync on my iPad Pro

The unread count of messages on my iPad Pro never syncs. I always have hundreds of unread message. I have logged off and on, restarted and deleted my accounts and started all over again and nothing seems to work. When I get a message on my other devices all iOS 11 if viewed on one device it will not be marked as read on the latter.
