iTunes Stops Playing When I Add A Song To A Pla...

I've got iTunes running in the background with other applications in the foreground. I've got the MiniPlayer on top of the other applications. I'm playing an Apple curated playlist while I work ("Essential Karaoke Hits", if you're curious).

When a good song comes on, I click on the "..." menu in the MiniPlayer, point to "Add to Playlist", and then select my playlist.

A second or two pass and then the music stops.

This was not happening a couple of weeks ago. I've built an extensive personal playlist listening through curated playlists and cherry picking my favorites.

I haven't made any noticeable changes to my setup since it was working, except I note that Apple automatically updated me to iTunes version 12.7 about a month ago. (I would have thought that I'd added songs to a personal playlist through the MiniPlayer in the last month, but I could be wrong about that.)

Last confounding fact: if--instead of trying to add the song to my personal playlist through the MiniBrowser, I actually go into iTunes and add the song to my playlist through the "..." menu in the Now Playing display, there is no problem. ¿Why don't I just do it this way and avoid the problem?--well, I do ... that's certainly my workaround. But it's cumbersome to have to command-tab over into iTunes, get all distracted with what's going on there, then command-tab back to my work. It's much tidier to just click, click, click in the MiniPlayer and be right back to my work without even losing my concentration.

Anybody have any ideas? I'm running OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) on an iMac with a 2.9 GHz processor with 16 GB of RAM. iTunes 12.7.

CORRECTION: iTunes stops whenever I try to add a song to a playlist no matter how I try to do it. The problem is not limited to going through the MiniBrowser. Even if I'm in iTunes and try any of the many ways to add a song to the playlist, the music stops.

This development--obviously--makes this little bug slightly more annoying.
