Hardware and OS Update

I have an older MacBook (A113) that won't upgrade past Mountain Lion. I was wondering if I upgraded the ssd and the ram, if I could upgrade to High Sierra or if I would still be stuck with Mountain Lion?

The primary reason for an OS limitation is due to your CPU architecture provided you have more than 2GB RAM. SSD does not play a role.

I’m fairly sure it’s mid 2009. I brought it online not that long ago, not knowing much about MacBooks.
