unable to pair bluetooth speaker with iMac

I don't know if it is coincidental but since I uploaded High Sierra I have lost connection to a Sony Bluetooth speaker I was using.It was on the bluetooth list but would not connect.No problems with mouse, keyboard or headset I use just the speaker which worked fine before.I tried a speaker reset but to no avail. I then removed it from the Bluetooth list in system preferences and tried to pair but again no success.Can someone please give me a suggestion? thanks

Can the speaker be updated with new firmware / software? If so it might be worth doing that to see if that helps.
