Bluetooth Keyboard Problems

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro running El Capitan V10.11.6. I use a dock to view on a large Mac monitor.

When I close the lid the display turns off. My keyboard used to wake it up but has stopped doing so. Ive tried going into the setup bluetooth keyboard settings to check if this setting is enabled but it can't find the keyboard even though the keyboard is working (Im using it to type this message).

Am I right in thinking that the reason the display is going off when I close the lid is related to the problem with the keyboard, or are they two separate problems?

Anyone got any ideas?
