I switched my Apple ID on Apple Music/iTunes on...

My sister just gave me her laptop and I am transferring my Apple ID onto it. I logged into iTunes/Apple Music with my Apple ID, but it didn't delete my sister's old playlists (which I don't want) from her Apple ID. I noticed there is a way to delete playlists, but I am worried that will delete the playlists/songs from the account all together, and my sister still uses that account on her phone. I completely logged out of her account, also, so I don't know why those playlists would still be appearing. Thanks!

Congratulations on getting your sisters Mac, and thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help deleting playlists. to answer your question, no, if you delete the playlists and songs from the Mac, the songs will still be attached to her Apple ID. 


It would have been better if she followed this article prior to giving you the computer: What to do before you sell or give away your Mac


You may still find the info within the article helpful, but as stated, the songs will be safe in her account, especially since you already signed out of her Apple ID on the computer. Even if something gets erased from her account, she can always redownload it using this article: Redownload music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books from the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, and App Store
