Split View to Slide Over crash on iPad Pro

Has anyone else experienced problems moving a split view application to slide over by pulling down from the app handler?

 

Every time I do this on my 9.7 iPad Pro iOS 11.0.3, the Slide Over application window vanishes into thin air and the underlying application will not respond to any input. I can slide up the dock, but clicking the dock application icons will do nothing visible. The home button will not open the home screen either. The power button will turn off the display and after that the display won't turn on any more. Only a hard reset will make the device usable again.
