How to reset computer password and keychain pas...

I bought a used macbook pro 2009 on ebay and received it today. I tried to download a new version of adobe flash but then it asked for a password, I can't reset it without the password. Is there a way to reset the password without the former password?

It depends on the OS X version you have, so open  > About this Mac, and tell me what OS X version you have. If it's 10.5 or 10.6, you need the Mac OS X DVD which came with the computer or the Snow Leopard DVD, if the computer was upgraded. To reset the password, see "Resetting your original administrator account password" > https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274

 

If it's 10.7 or 10.8, there's a method to reset the password > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101 However, with this method you will lose the keychain
