Cannot access other wifi

just been away tried to use friends WiFi. My iPad could see their WiFi but could not unlock it using their password.

tried again and again but no success. Lafter used my mobile using their password, All was OK.

tried later in the local restaurant, my iPad still refused to unlock while again my mobile unlocked OK.

My version is 11.0.2 and works fine on my home WiFi.

any ideas please?
