Time Capsule backup

I keep receiving a pop up message asking if I would like to inherit the backup history. It states the backup was created on a different computer. If I inherit this backup, it can no longer be used by the original computer.

This is my original Mac and the original Time Capsule. I can choose to create a new back up, but then I'd have 2 different backups running for the same computer.

I'm not sure why I keep receiving this prompt when nothing has changed?

That message will appear if the source volume's hard disk name has changed, or if another hard disk with the same name as the source volume was connected to that Mac at some time.

If you are in fact using the same computer, you can safely choose "inherit". The backup history will be retained.

Perhaps you didn't change the Mac's hard disk name or do anything else that might explain its appearance, in which case I have no explanation. In any event just choose to inherit and you'll be all set.
