New iPhone asking me for old Apple ID

Hi,

I've just bought a new iPhone 8+ today and gone through the process of setting it up. I've logged into my usual iCloud account but several of my apps haven't appeared or are showing the 'cloud' logo beneath them. When I try to open them it asks me for a very old Apple ID - for a me.com account that I set up when I bought my desktop Mac in 2009ish. I had no idea I had purchased these apps on that ID. I don't know the password and when I follow the 'I forgot' process of security questions it tells me my date of birth is not the correct one associated with the account (?? Pretty sure I know what my DOB is!) If I ask for the reset email to be sent its telling me its sending it to an address I don't recognise. I don't even recognise the host part.

Its annoying because a. its asking me to repurchase these apps and b. there was data on the apps that I wanted to save. My phone was backed up and its restored from that backup so I assumed they would come with that info?

Help! Is there anything I can do?
