full screen disappears from view

Hi,

 

I have been searching for an answer to this for ages but have got nowhere, if I put any application into full screen, it goes full screen for about 30 seconds then disappears completely showing me just my desktop. I have to then select the application again to get it back, but it hides again after another 30 seconds or so.

 

Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I see that you are having trouble getting apps to stay in full screen on your iMac running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3. I'm happy to help.


First, quit any open apps that you are running. You can do this by selecting the app name from the upper left of the screen and then clicking "Quit [App Name]", or by pressing Command + Q while in the app. Then, restart the iMac by clicking the Apple  menu > Restart...

Once the computer comes back on, try putting an app in full screen mode. If you're still unable to get them to stay, the next recommendation I'd make is to test in safe mode. The following article will provide information on what safe mode is, why it's helpful, how to boot to it, and what to do once you're there: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.
