Apple Watch apps on both Phone and Watch

Hi,

I can't seen to find any topic or answers in relation to my question.

Why do I have to have the same app installed on my iPhone before I can use it on my Apple Watch?

I think this is a waste of space on my iPhone as some apps I only want to use on my watch. Let me give you an example, the Apple Watch doesn't come with a Calculator app, so I download one via the Watch app on my iPhone and it will install the new calculator app on both devices, pointless, when my iPhone already has a built in calculator app. If I delete the new calculator app from my iPhone it will remove it from my Watch, but I want it on my Watch just not on my iPhone.

So why can the Apple Watch not be independent of the iPhone, it does have its only Storage, so what's the excuse?

Any solutions?

Hi

It is not currently possible to install apps to Apple Watch on a standalone basis. The companion iOS app must be installed (and remain installed) on the paired iPhone.

I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you why Apple has designed the software that way. You are not talking to Apple here - this is a user-based technical support community.

If you would like to submit a feature request to Apple, then you can do so here:
