What's with only 8 GB of memory on Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Pro?

First, we are all other users here - you are not addressing Apple, so there is no way that we would be familiar with Apple's decisions. You'd actually have to ask Apple.

However, you can order and configure your MBP up to 16 GB RAM along with a larger SSD, etc. It is simply a question of money: which features do you want and how much can you afford to pay? FWIW, it is quite difficult to put more RAM in a very thin laptop as they'd tend to overheat with more RAM.
