Continual Wifi Connection Issues

I have a Cisco WRT160N V2 and firmware is current. Set on WPA2. Default settings. I have continual issues with getting Apple products to connect automatically. All software is updated. 2017 MacBook Pro; The first IPad using Retina; IPhone 6s. All of these devices regularly fail to connect to the network when returning to use the device after a long period of time (~5+ hours). I have to turn the wifi off then on for each of these devices to reconnect to the wifi every time. My prior 2 HP laptops for work never had this problem. Any settings recommendations or is the router not compatible?
