Can't add music to iTunes 10.6.1

I'm having problems in adding any kind of music media into iTunes 10.6.1 on OSX. Funny thing is that when i preview the file in finder it plays, some files also play in itunes when i double click them, but theyr'e nowhere to be found in the library. I can't drag and drop or add to the library manually through File > Add to Library > so on so forth either :S

Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem - it even looks like it's adding it - does a very fast 'processing' but the songs don't show up. They play perfectly otherwise.

I was just having the same problem. It looks like after itunes match has finished processing and you add an album that is not in the cloud, itunes doesn't recognize it. I turned off itunes match on my computer and then turned it on again. It uploded the new albums to icloud and it worked for me.

Same problem here. I've tried everything I know how to do.

There seems to be some problem, glad that im not the only one who gets this issue, hopefully Apple will sort it out soon. What i found really wierd in my case is that after attmeting to add the music, then unsing my Mac for some time and going back to iTunes, the music casually appeared :S really confusing

I had this issue as well. Media i uploaded did not appear in itunes (just the library folder) turned off itunes match, then the shows i uploaded appeared and then turned itunes match back on and everything was good to go.

I had the same problem.

I did get it to work by quitting iTunes then dragging the file to the icon in the dock, which launched iTunes, then hey presto, added the file. 

It's working fine with other files now...so either that trick straighened everything out for me, or I just needed a restart.

i had the music in my media, dragged from a folder on the desktop. I had the same problem until i put all the songs on a playlist in itunes (which works), and then select them and add to icloud. then sign in and out of itunes store.

now i just cant get them on match

I just ran into this too. I did some searching around and didn't find anything which pointed to a bug or a feature, but perhaps I'm just not reading the right stuff or searching with the correct criteria.

What I did find is that iTunes Match is the problem. As soon as I turned it off, all my "missing" files appeared, all 4-6 versions of them which I had kept dragging and dropping trying to add. TV shows, movies and music alike.

Unless this is a "feature" of iTunes Match, which I dislike as a feature, then Match has some serious flaws.

Turning Match off then on works, but interestingly, this problem does not happen on our Windows machine.  I can add the songs while Match is on and Match is updated automatically by iTunes.  On my Mac, it doesn't work.  First time I've ever seen something in iTunes work better on the PC than on the Mac.

same problem here, the turn on/off work but the issue need to be fixed by apple.

I'm having this problem, but I don't subscribe to Match so I can't turn it off then on. Have tried everything. Anyone find a different solution?

I think I found a way, I had this problem too.

I don't know for Mac 'cause i never owned one, this is for windows.

1) In the folder album highlight and right-click all the songs and click on Properties.

2) Go in the Details tab

3) Fill in the Media section.

Hope it helps! (It works for me on Windows).

For those of you on Windows (Mac users might try this too), one workaround for me has been to drag and drop directly into a playlist. You can make your own or add to an existing list.

I tried EVERYTHING else to combat this inability to add files, and after 25 different things this is the only one that worked for me.

I'm using 10.6.3.25 iTunes on my Vista. Click the file(s) and hold Ctrl+C and then go to the playlist and hold Ctrl+V. It works for me. Good luck.
