stop storing docs on icloud

on imac, when i want to store a document it assumes icloud.  I want to keep the doc resident on my imac only.  not on icloud.  how do i accomplish that?  Thanks.

Is this happening when you are saving a document? Can you select another location in the Save dialogue box? If that isn't how the documents are getting there, more information would help.
