Hard drives not detected over usb hub.

I got a new powered usb-3 hub.

My external keyboard works fine using this hub. My mouse starts flashing and does not work. My hard drives do not show up. I switched them around to see if it was one bad port, but it's not. In the process I had to remove the drives without being able to eject them, because the computer, and disk utility, can't detect them.
