iTunes no supported disc burners found

Itunes cant burn CDs now, however the burner is working fine for other apps, so it is isolated to iTunes.

1. Itunes CAN read and play a CD

2. Other software can read and burn CD

3. Itunes CANNOT burn CD

4. Itunes running as administrator

5. Even though point 1 above is true,  when running iTunes diagnostics it says: Optical drive - no audio CD found???

6.  ITunes diagnostics reveal **** CD/DVD Drive Tests ****

     No drivers in LowerFilters.

     No drivers in UpperFilters

How can i get these Itunes drivers installed? Reading other posts suggest re-install of Itunes does not work, and because i have other software that works fine reading and writing to the CD drive, i am not keen to uninstall the drivers for the CD burner itself.
