Macbook Air Clicking Noise Causing Freezes and ...
I've got a mid-2012 Macbook Air that has been crashing and/or freezing recently. Running a new install of 10.13 on an SSD.
Every so often a series of rapid clicking noises can be heard coming from the top middle of the device (to the right the fan, but the fan seems to be working fine). It happens even when the system is in sleep mode. When the clicking occurs, the device freezes up and often ultimately resulting in a system crash.
I've run the extended Apple hardware test on it three times, but it did not detect any problems. I've reinstalled the OS twice, but it continues to happen randomly.
