Periodically lose internet connection with IOS 11

i downloaded iOS 11 to both my iPad and iPhone a few weeks ago. Ever since then I lose my internet connection after not using either my iPad or iPhone for more than about 30 minutes. I have a VPN on both devices. However, there Was no problem prior to upgrading to iOS 11. I do not lose my wireless connection. It seems the only way to restore my internet connection is to turn the device off and back on. Is anyone else having this kind of problem?
