Using Hunspell dicitionaries with Apple spell c...

When using Hunspell dictionaries with Apple spellcheck, I get error markings for words that seem to exist in the dictionary.

 

I have placed the dictionaries in the ~/Library/Spelling-folder:

However, when I try to use it in different programs (text editor [I think it's called in English, not iWrite or what the iWork equivalent is called] or in Scrivener) I get correct/existing words marked as erroneous.

 

In Scrivener, I even get a suggestion for the same word. Selecting it makes the red underlining go away for a moment and then come back.

 

As far as I've been able to determine the words I'm testing exists in the dictionary (especially since Scrivener suggests them).

 

The dictionaries have been harvested from a LibreOffice dictionary plugin.

 

What am I missing?

It's not my area of expertise, but this page suggests you may need to do more than just drop the dictionaries into your Spelling folder.

I've gone back and forth with this so many times that one was actually not installed. However, I followed this instruction instead: https://macappstore.org/hunspell/

 

I'll test and see if I also need the python bindings (one would hope Mac OS spelling wasn't a python script, but who knows).
