best celebration presentation software

Hi all,

My mom is turning 80 this November and I want to create a nice presentation video for her.  Last year, I've used the simple internal presentation in iPhoto with the nice music and photos that can be show in all kinds of matter but I want something more special and cool effects.  I plan to insert videos of well wishers and photos I have of my mom through out her years.

Are there any software (free or reasonable) that goes beyond the basic of iPhoto to present photos and videos in a cool format?  Thanks for taking the time to read.

Final Cut Pro X $299

It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.
