Cannot import pictures from Canon Powershot 700

Since I upgraded to Mac OS Sierra 10.12 .6 with Photos Version 2.0 (3161.4.140) my mac will not import from my Canon powershot 700 using either USB or Wifi. I can import from  the memory card directly. I have checked for additional software on the Canon site, but it seems it does not have any software for Sierra. It is odd because previouw versions of Phot had no issues with importing. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?
