using thunderbolt with firewire for digi 003

I am running pro tools and have a digi 003. I have new iMac that doesn't have firewire ports, but I need a  firewire 400 port.  I am concerned that using the thunderbolt to firewire 400 adapter won't work.  Please tell me there is hope?

Of course it will work, if it doesn't then return the adapter.

Yea I tryed that and you will get the CPU overload error, and you can change the buffer size but it still wont make a differance. Im also trying to figure a solution.
