Loud "CLACK" Sound from Screen??
Brand new (less than a month old) 15" MacBook Pro with touchbar.
Seventy percent of the time, if I touch the screen with even the slightest pressure at the bottom-middle (whilst clamshell is open) I get a loud "clack" sound from the casing. Sometimes even occurs whithout my intervention - with the device just sitting doing it's thing (I'm assuming as it adjusts to thermals and the like).
I don't have any easy opportunity to get myself to a local distributor to fiddle with display models to see if this is a common or "normal" thing with the device, hence my post here... Just wanting to know if this is "normal" - if I should chill the heck out or look at having the device seen to before it gets any older...
So please, anyonel, everyone, with a similar Mac, PLEASE let me know your experience!!??!
Thanks much in advance!
Craig D.J.
Hi,
This is commonly called a "popping" sound. Do an Internet search and you'll get all kinds of hits. There have been varying results from Apple about fixing the issue. About the only thing you can do is bring the Mac to an Apple Store “genius” bar for a free diagnosis and see what, if anything, they'll do about it: https://support.apple.com/contact

Thanks tjk.
I'm a veteran so should have done a little more searching before making the post... Honestly I was getting a little nervous about the approaching "30 days" post-purchase and really just needed a quick answer, one way or another...
Once I'd made the post I did a little extra searching etc. and discovered some other posts - including a 30-odd page one here in this community.
Important thing I take from this: This is "normal" for this generation of MBP. Bit of a design-oopsie it would seem, but nothing that's fixable really and also not likely to cause any serious problems down the line...
I can take a chill-pill now and just settle into things. :-)
Appreciate the reply!
