Itunes trash

When I update apps in iTunes, the old items do not show up in the trash until the computer is restarted, or shut down and started up again. Anyone else experiencing this or have a solution?

It appears that, whenever you update applications on your iMac on macOS 10.12.1, the older version of that application only appears in your trash bin after you've restarted. I'll be glad to help with this.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up -- Safe mode will make sure your Mac starts up correctly. Test how it responds in safe mode. If there are no issues, reboot normally and test in your own user account.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac -- If the issue is also happening in safe mode, use this article to test another user account. This will demonstrate if the issue is isolated to your account, or if it's system wide.

This happens when I download app updates in iTunes, not applications on the iMac. When I do the update in iTunes, the old copies used to show up immediately in the trash. Now there is nothing in the trash until the next time I start up the computer. Sorry if I was unclear. It started after the Sierra update, along with the problem of my desktop picture being switched to the Sierra default at random when I start up.

What appears to be happening is that all deleted items, music, TV shows, movies or apps in iTunes are going into the trash, but do not appear there until after I restart the computer. Then I can delete them. It is as if the system is not recognizing deleted items in iTunes until there is a restart.

This problem has continued in High Sierra, Very annoying. Would appreciate any help.

Apple don't monitor these forums for bug reports. Use Feedback - iTunes - Apple or get a free developer account and use Bug Reporter.

Or you could install iTunes 12.7 which drops support for managing apps so it is no longer an issue.
