Previous/Next buttons missing

When playing downloaded music on my iPhone 8 running the latest software update, I find that I can't skip tracks either forward or backwards. The previous / next buttons have been replaced with advance by 30 seconds buttons instead.

I feel this is preference somewhere, but I can't find it. This happens to all music on my iPhone.
