Empty folders on Macbook?

How do I delete these empty folders named "Other" (I renamed one of the folders to "**** It" just for fun and out of frustration - thinking it'd make a difference too)? I don't know why they're there and whenever I try the remedy of putting an application in it then taking it out - it just ***** the application into no where. I've also tried the wobbly-icons move where you click and hold any app or hold the 'Option' key and try deleting. Doesn't work. I've tried dragging it to the trash bin. Also doesn't work. What is going on?
