How can I smooth out the P pops on vocals?

I have recorded some vocals, but the 'P' s pop out when I am singing certain words like People or Past.

the Ps are boomy and popping out,  how do I go about smoothing these out?  I used a pop sheild but some words are still too much.

Any help appreciated.  I guess its with the EQ?

A DeEsser or dynamic EQ set to the right frequency can help, but really the best options are automation, or reducing the gain of the "p" & "t" plosives in the sample editor.

It's always better to get the recording right a source though - even if it means do a few test takes. Being too close to the mic is a common cause of excessive plosive (pop) sounds. If I have a problem singer, I'll often use two pop shields -  one the perforated steel type, & the other the nylon type. Not all pop shields are equal, so it's worth investing in a decent one (or two)! Some microphones are also more susceptible than others, so if you have more than one mic at your disposal, it worth experimenting, as some mic's suit singers better than others.

Hope it helps

Yes indeed FLEXIS, this does help! thank you

I thought the foam cover on my SM7B was enough?  guess I need a further pop shield?
