I try to sign out of iCloud but it keep telling me "there was an error connecting to iCloud"

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about your issue signing out of iCloud. Can you isolate the issue a bit more? Can you sign out while connected to a different wireless network? Try on multiple networks, such as at work, your home, and if possible, the network at an Apple Store.

How about if you turn off Wi-Fi in Settings > Wi-Fi? Be aware, you will use your cellular data if you disable Wi-Fi, but this helps us isolate the issue. Are you able to sign out of iCloud while using your cellular data only? Remember to re-enable this setting once you are done to avoid using your cellular data for everything.


If you are able to sign out properly with Wi-Fi turned off, meaning using your cellular data only, this may mean the network you are connecting to has the ports for iCloud blocked. You can speak to your network manager and request they open the necessary ports. Here is an article with a list of the most common ports used by Apple services: TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products
