No Media Folder?

I've been an iTunes user for many years. I think the first version we had was iTunes 6. I was setting up my new iMac and I noticed that even though I am running the latest version of iTunes, all of my files are in the Music folder. I do not have anything labeled "Media" folder. I have not lost any data; all of my movies and tv shows are there, but instead of having their own folders outside, they are all in the "Music" folder. Is this a concern? Is this because I have been regularly updating iTunes all these years and never have actually installed a new version from scratch? And again, should I be concerned? Thanks -- Tom

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:

Thanks so much! That did exactly what I wanted; now everything is cleaned up and working great.

Great!

Just worked great for me as well, thanks!

You're welcome.

I've been trying to do all of these things for days, finding the same advice from various sources. I'm getting nowhere. I still don't have an iTunes Media folder and am wondering if that makes a difference at all. I'm in the process of moving my iTunes folder to an external drive so that I can use it on my older Macbook as well as on my newer MBAir (which is running Mt Lion and that's my only concern - that, with the updated OS I'll run into trouble, I have 10.6.8 on my MB).

In:

1. Select *File > Library > Organize Library... >* Tick *Reorganize files in the folder "iTunes Media"* and click OK. Skip if this option is greyed out (already upgraded) or you prefer the older layout.

Mine is greyed out, which makes sense since there is no iTunes Media folder, but this is said to be the way to make an iTunes media folder.

I'm confused....

Under iTunes > Preferences > Advanced what path is given for the media folder?

Renaming the iTunes Music folder to iTunes Media worked for iTunes 12.7 as well. I hadn't been able to sync my iPad with my laptop for months without getting the alert that there was no Media folder on the hard drive (despite iTunes preferences saying that there was one in the iTunes folder.
