Hello!

I have an old macbook pro which recently gave up on me after 8 or so years - the battery is unable to charge,  and the board has gone so it can't be fixed.

Is there a way for me to remove the old hard drive and transfer the files/data to my new macbook pro?  I'm on a bit of a budget,  and I'm not necessarily looking to use it as an external hard drive just yet - I'm just wondering what cables/kit I need to perform a one-off transfer.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,

All you need is an inexpensive 2.5" USB SATA enclosure and another Mac with a USB port. At $10 each, I have two of these and they work great: Amazon.com: Inateck 2.5 Inch USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure External Hard Drive Case with USB 3.0 Cable for 9.5mm 7mm 2.5"…
