iTunes 11 Won't Let Me Add Songs To Library

When I try to import songs (MP3's) into my library literally nothing happens. At one point it was making the little cloud icon beside where it says "Music" have moving lines. But that went on for a while and I decided to shut down iTunes and open it up again. It continued to have moving lines for a few minutes and then stopped. But none of the songs that I tried to add showed up in the library. I tried numerous times and numerous ways (even playing each individual song so that iTunes would play it and post it in the library...well, it played it but never showed up in the library). I did stumble upon it being in the "Recently Added" playlist, but it's not in the regular library and I see no way of actually adding these songs to the library. If someone could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

ok i just added a folder

file>add folder to library> navigated my way to the name of the folder> highlighted the one i wanted and pushed "select folder" and it brings in any song not already in the library.

Have you enabled the menu bar? see pic below

with the menu bar enabled you can add file or add a folder, also at the bottom left you se the + sign, click that and you have the same options.

I do have the menu enabled and I tried doing it that way too. Unfortunately that way also doesn't work. When I have the files selected (and yes, I also tried adding in a folder) and I click on "Open" it closes the dialogue box and doesn't do anything.

I don't know what happened this time that was different from last time, but now importing a folder worked. So thanks for your help.

lol no problem hey it was weird for me at first too sometimes instead of "select folder" it just opened the folder and i would select a file andnothing would happen. maybe i did one too many clicks, who knows

guys i had the same problem. dont worry about itunes match but make sure ur genius is on.

That did my job..

Tried turning guinus on and it still didnt work for me.

The alleged solution does not work for me.

That's how I added the songs in the first place.

I can see the songs in the "Recently added" playlist but they won't show up in my library.

Apple, please fix this quickly!

OK, I got the same problem, and tried all the solutions here, none of them works.

Then I tried everything by myself, and finally, I made it!

I just selected "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library", it works!

It was unselected before, and iTunes 11 keeps the old settings.

If you are in the same case, don't miss this setting!

I have this problem too. I tried to add songs to library, but iTunes still didn't show the new songs. this problem happen inmediately after I upgrade to iTunes 11.

i had this problem too. downloaded two albums from the internet (not itunes) and they would show up in recently added but NOT in my library. solved the problem by right-clicking the songs and clicking "convert to AAC". they immediately appeared in my library. hope this helps.

My menu bar is disabled, I can't click on anything besides exit, any ideas?

In store preferences, I deselected "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases" and everything was back to normal!

Guys, thanks but none of this working for me.

ITunes has copied the files into my media folder, and the songs do appear in the Recently Added playlist, but none of the other suggestions have worked!
