Can you transfer an in process call on Apple Wa...

I answered a call on my Apple Watch Series 3 and then got back to my iphone but could not determine how to transfer the in-process call. There was no green bar on my iPhone to indicate an in-process call. Is there a way to do this?

Good afternoon Cpiepapple,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

Thanks for your question.  The resources below explain how to configure the preferences for the Handoff feature of Continuity and how to answer a call on the Apple Watch and send it to the iPhone it is paired with.

Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

Set up Handoff

Use Handoff with any Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch that meets the Continuity system requirements. Handoff works when your devices are near each other and set up as follows:

  • Each device is signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.
To see the Apple ID used by Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then go to General > Apple ID.
  • Each device has Bluetooth turned on.
  • Each Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch has Wi-Fi turned on.
  • Each device has Handoff turned on:

    • On Mac, choose Apple menu () > System Preferences, then click General. Select “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.”
    •
    • On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > General > Handoff, then turn on Handoff.
    •
    • On Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then tap General and turn on Enable Handoff.
Apple Watch supports handing off from watch to iPhone only.

Apple Watch User Guide - Answer phone calls

Answer a call. When you hear or feel the call notification, raise your wrist to see who’s calling. Tap the Answer button on Apple Watch to talk using the built-in microphone and speaker. To answer using iPhone or send a text message instead, turn the Digital Crown to scroll down, then tap an option.

Two images show the options that appear on the Apple Watch screen when you receive a call: the red Decline button, the green Answer button, Send a Message, and Answer on iPhone.

Hold a call. Tap Answer on iPhone to place the call on hold until you can continue it on your paired iPhone. The caller hears a repeated sound until you pick up the call. If you can’t find your iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the watch face to open Control Center, then tap the Ping iPhone button on Apple Watch to locate it.

Switch a call from Apple Watch to iPhone. While talking on Apple Watch, unlock iPhone, then tap the green bar at the top of the screen.

Adjust call volume. To adjust the speaker volume when talking on Apple Watch, turn the Digital Crown or tap the volume symbols on the screen. Tap the Mute button to mute your end of the call (if you’re listening on a conference call, for example).

During an incoming phone call, the screen shows the — and + volume symbols at the top, and the Mute button at the bottom right.

Tip: You can quickly silence an incoming call by pressing the palm of your hand on the watch display for three seconds. Just make sure you have Cover to Mute turned on—open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap My Watch, tap Sounds & Haptics, then tap Cover to Mute.

Take care.
