Electric Feeling through my Apple Devices

Hi Everyone,

Is it normal to feel the electricity only my apple devices ? i am not in humid place (apartment new and dry) and i don't wear synthetic socks how i saw in other Post.

I live in Ireland and I have a new MacBook pro 2016 and iPhone 7 and it seems that i feel the electricity only with these devices when they are plug, are they supporting the voltage here ? because when i am in France nothing Happen.

I am sure i am not the only one but it's really annoying to work few hours and your hand vibrating and feeling small electric shock.

If it's happening on both your Mac and iPhone it's possibly an issue with your home's sockets/wiring. Do you have a problem elsewhere e.g. at a friend's or family member's house, or office ?

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Actually yes it's not only in my apartment but in my office sometimes.

I think it's because the sockets are not plug to the ground usually here in Ireland and in France yes.

But i don't understand why it's happening only on my apple device, thats the questions

It's most likely the grounding issue. For reasons I don't recall (I believe someone did once explain them) Apple products seem to be especially susceptible to this. It's harmless.

Thanks as well for your reply.

I am 90% sure that it's about it because the body is full metal and really close to electromagnetic component inside but i guess they know about it. If anybody as an answer clear from apple about it please paste it.

Trust me it's not nice to have this feeling in your hand and even more when you work haha.

I've certainly had it happen with an Apple device or two. It doesn't especially bother me. Try using a power strip.

Hi,

The voltage in Ireland is 230V which can give you quite a tingle. Irish power outlets have 3 pin sockets, one being for earth or ground.

The Mac power adopter has only two pins and I don't know how they ground the computer.

What you might do is use the computer on a surface that is grounded (kitchen sink unit?).

May be best to get advice from you local electrical shop or directly from the Apple store.

Hi Cunnla,

Thank you for the answer, You are totally right about what you are saying.

So, I change the adaptor on the plug to an irish one that i had from the Ipad and still the same. I don't understand really, i was sure it's the ground too but now The problem is probably from my hands who knows
