Small White Circle in Middle of Screen

Hi,

I have a 2016 Macbook 12". I noticed a coupe of months back that there is a small white circle, drawn/created by OS in the middle of the screen. I can't see what is causing it and try as I might, I can't get rid of it. I've upgraded MacOS several times with betas and it's still there.

When I change the resolution, the circle moves accordingly and gets slightly larger, so I know it's not a defect of the screen. I can't find what is casuing this in System Preferences, and any help will be gladly received.

What if you choose a different desktop image? Does the circle remain?

Does it only show up in LaunchPad (or whatever app you have running there)?

No, it shows up all the time, Launchpad was the best background to show it.

It's so strange that it moves position if I change the resolution, that's why I know the actual screen is ok.

Does it show up when you start up your Mac in safe mode?

Try safe mode - Apple Support

I was going to suggest just restarting, but I see it has survived various Beta installs.

I'd agree it is some artifact. It looks like the outline of one of the "delete" buttons that pop up when you hold down the Option key. Try holding down the Option key and see if it changes to an X or otherwise goes away.

Thank you to everyone, Luis suggested changing my background which I duly did and the little circle has disappeared.

I've had this for a few months and was annoying, and fingers crossed it has gone for good!

It's caused by MacID, just restart it and it goes away. 

Yes! I thought it looked like the MacID icon.

It's funny what you run into sometimes. The "small white circle" is clearly the page indicator of Launchpad. You can even see the two empty circles to the left.  Here's mine on the first page of Launchpad.

YES! MacID was the culprit on mine too! Was driving me crazy! Thanks everyone.
