Reinstall problems

     I recently bough a mac on Amazon, it just shipped today. There was a user and password already logged into the system so I restarted and deleted the HD. I tried to reinstall macOS Sierra but I did not originally buy the product or change the Icloud details. I can provide proof that I purchased the Mac, I don't know how to contact support to help with this issue as I did not write the serial key down, first time using a mac. Have I trapped myself, or is there a way around this.

For the serial number, it is written underneath your mac. Look for "serial" to find it



Please restart the computer in the Recovery Partition (Command + R) and open Disk Utility and erase the HD. This will format the HD to Mac OS Extended (Jounaled) with a GUID partition. After the disk has been erased quit DU. Next simply install Mac OS (whatever version is installed on the computer). After you have done so, if the computer does not have High Sierra installed on it the you will need to download HS from the Mac App store and let it install.

 

It should be that easy.
