How to disconnect two time capsules

I have two time capsules that are connected, how do I disconnect them to erase the old one and only keep the new one?

You would not disconnect the old Time Capsule to erase it......keep it connected to the network so that you can access the settings for the device using AirPort Utility.

On your Mac.......open AirPort Utility    (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)

Click on the picture of the old Time Capsule

Click Edit in the smaller window that appears

Click the Disks tab at the top of the next window

Click Erase Disk

Choose the Zero Out Data erase option

Click Erase

The procedure will take 3-5 hours on average, depending on how much data is stored on the Time Capsule

When the process has completed, click on the Base Station menu at the top of the screen.....up where you see the other menus like File, Window, Help, etc.

Click Restore Default Settings to erase all of the stored network settings, passwords, etc and return the Time Capsule to the condition that it was when you first took it out of the box.

Now.....you can disconnect the old Time Capsule from the network and power it off.
