A question Pages and storage

I’m not particularly tech savvy so bear with me

My iPhone has just updated to IOS 11.0.3. When I opened Pages this morning it seemed to have changed. Am I correct in assuming that work in Pages is now stored in iCloud, that Apple gives you 5gb of free storage and after that you pay?  Or was it like this all along and it’s just the outlay that’s changed. I liked the old outlay!

Is saving to iCloud the default and if so can I change that to storing on the phone to save iCloud storage. Or is storage in iCloud the way in which I share documents between my iPhone and iPad and I have no real option?

One additional question my iPad’s keyboard has numbers and symbols above the letters. I like that. That’s not the way it is on my iPhone, how do I change to that keyboard?

You can choose document storage through Settings > Pages. If you choose iCloud Drive all files can be accessed on both devices. Enable keyboad flicks are found in Settings > General > keyboard.
