Remote App cannot control Radio – Continu...

Been having this problem for quite a while and no one on the internet seems to know how to fix it. Here are the exact steps:

1. Connect to Macbook Pro itunes from ipad 2 or iphone 4 using Remote App.

2. Connection is established and can control local library, volume, start, stop... etc..

3. Try to click on the "Radio" tab in the side bar... right panel displays "Loading..." messaging.

4. iTunes on Macbook Pro appears to refresh the listing of radio stations and they are displayed within itunes

5. iPad or iPhone remote app continues to display the "Loading..." graphic and never actually loads the radio station listing

Result:

Radio cannot be controlled remotely by the remote app.

Additional notes:

If you start a radio station from the iTunes app from the computer itself, you can then stop and start it from remote, but you can never control the listing/look for other radio stations, etc.

Is anyone else having this problem? Seems like a huge bug and I'm curious if anyone has found a solution.

Thanks,

Alex

Hard to believe no one has any insight into this...

Same problem here - I am using remote on an iPhone 4 controling itunes on a PC

Radio appears to jam on "loading"

What I have found is that if I open itunes on PC and do no more to itunes - JUST OPEN and leave it be (perhaps minimise window) then open remote on iphone I can get radio to load and refresh (sometimes)

I sometimes get an error message that internet connection has been lost - but it does work - somehow.

Not a proper fix but of some help I hope.

Same here. Using remote with the radio stations causes it to freeze. Found the only way to get it working is to quit itunes and start again. Hope they fix this bug.

Same Issue here on iphone 4..  so far your suggestion to restart itunes is working.  I also noted after restarting it it started to say "synchine itunes radio" across the top of the screen.. took it a few minutes.. but so far so good.

Same issue here ... Whenever I try to use Remote from iOS it seems to stop the radio on itunes ...

I find this too with my IPAD2 and it stops at "Loading..."  just frustrating as it worked once or twice then stopped.

Also having a similar problem.  Maybe what I've tried will help, possibly not though as I'm still searching for a solution too.

Have Remote App on iPhone 4S to control Apple TV (ver3) which it does fine regarding playlists on iTunes (on Win PC), but doesn't regarding iTunes Radio.  Curiously, Apple TV has an iTunes Radio app within it's menu, but it can only be controlled (apparently) with the Apple TV remote (not the iPhone Remote App), AND you'll need Apple TV connected to a TV monitor to see what's happening...you can't see it from the Remote App on the iPhone.  I've digressed a bit, sorry.  What I noticed on the Remote App is when you click on your iTunes library and then click on the "More" option (bottom right) it actually has a listing for Radio.  If you click on Radio the genre list comes up then you can select a station.  The problem is that the station never plays.

In another problem post someone suggested creating an iTunes Radio playlist within your iTunes library and then dragging individual radio stations to it, just like you would any other music.  When I tried that, the Remote App can "see" this playlist through your library, but similar to the above, the station never plays once you select it.  Note: The other post suggests that this allows the Remote App to play your radio stations, but I never got it to work.

So, like all above, I'm stuck as well.  Very strange that the Remote App can "see" the Radio stations via my two methods above, but is not able to make them "play".

Same problem 6 years later. How is this even possible? Latest iOS and iTunes for Windows. Clicking on the Internet Radio in the app and getting the spinning wheel of death.

I am having somewhat different results but it still not working.  I put a few radio stations that stream over the internet into my list of Playlists as was described in an Apple support note.  This is on a Mac Mini.  If I select one of these "playlist" with my Mac, the streaming channel appears in the iTunes window showing a play arrow.  Clicking on the play arrow starts playing the streaming content of the station.  That's using the Mac computer directly.  Selecting the same item in the playlist with the Remote app on my iPhone gets a completely different result.  In that case, a new window opens on the phone listing just the one streaming channel. Clicking on that item opens the usual iTunes window with sort of a TV set in the middle to show the song being played but that TV window is blank.  Furthermore the play arrow at the bottom of the window is greyed out.  Only the rewind and fast forward arrows are dark.  After a few seconds, this window disappears and the previous window opens.

I thought to try to activate the streaming directly on the Apple TV.  I turned on my television and selected the Apple TV as the source.  Then from the Apple TV view, I selected the Mac Mini, Music, Playlists.  I could find the streaming channel in the Playlists and selected that.  This resulted in an error message stating that the playlist contained no songs.

My conclusion from this exercise is that while the Mac computer knows how to accept the streaming audio through iTunes, the Apple TV does not   It's not really the Remote App that is failing but the Apple TV itself.  When the Apple TV asks my Mac Mini to play the streaming data, the Apple TV doesn't know what to do with it or how to get it, even though the actual computer knows how to play that streaming data.

It sure would be nice if Apple would fix this.
