contacts groups disappear imac

Hi All

Somehow my groups in the contact list have disappeared. I do have all of the contacts but there group setting  are not being displayed. I tried using the time machine and was able to go back a week or so and in the display saw the groups but when I brought them back in the contact applications the groups are still mising.

Is there someway to restore the Groups? Any help in greatly appreciated.

Is Groups selected (Command+1) under View menu?

Yes it is, there is a check mark next to groups in the view tab.

Strange - which version of OS X are you running? It might be worth downloading and installing the combo updater for your OS from Apple's downloads page. That sometimes fixes odd issues.

I am running Mountain Lion since it originally came out and I never had any problems with the groups until today. I have to take a look at the combo updater, I did not realize that they had such app for updating. I assume it somewhere on the Apple support page, do you know the link?

Yes, I did the re-boot and it did not solve it. Another thing is I went into the time machine and could see all of the groups as well as all of the contacts within them but when I try to restore it from the time machine its just says all of the items are duplicate. I did a back up and then deleted all of the contact and went back to the time machine and could not see the contact data. I had to re-install the backup I made, all is back as far as the contacts are concern but still do not have any of the groups, you would think the time machine backup would restore the groups. I may need to just re-create the groups which is alot of work.

Did you ever solve this issue? I am having the same problem on a Mac Mini. The groups show up in the back up in Time Machine but restoring only restores the contacts, not the groups.
