Cannot send mail by BT internet on my Mac deskt...

I have 3 devices-Mac desktop, iPad and Android phone.

I use BT as my email server

I changed my BT password. Since then, I can still fully send/receive emails on my Android and my iPad. I can RECEIVE emails on my desktop, BUT when I try to SEND emails from the desktop. I get message that cannot use the server in my email name using password authentication because the ID or password is invalid.

But since both password and ID ARE recognised by my other devices, and recognised for incoming emails on my desktop, why is this a problem confined to my SENDING emails just from the desktop?
